Pregnancy & Obstetrics

When it comes to your health, and the health of your baby,
select the skills and experience of the doctors at Southern Oklahoma Women's Health.

Pregnancy & Obstetrics

The doctors and nurse practitioners at Southern Oklahoma Women's Health are experienced in obstetrics that treat each patient with care and compassion. During a woman's pregnancy, she needs a doctor or practitioner that is experienced, understanding and patient.

An obstetrician is a doctor who specializes in pregnancy, childbirth, and  the female reproductive system.

During your pregnancy, your OBGYN or Nurse Practitioner will:

  • Monitor your health and your baby's health throughout the pregnancy
  • Check for health conditions that may impact your pregnancy such as high blood pressure, high blood sugar and genetic disorders
  • Advise you on common issues that many make your pregnancy uncomfortable such as morning sickness, back and leg cramps, heartburn, and other common pregnancy complaints
  • Explain and guide you through the labor and delivery process

Our obstetrical team is comprised of Dr. Henry Ramirez, Zann Shelton, CNP and Susan Bezner, CNP.

During your pregnancy, your obstetrical team will measure the baby's growth, order ultrasounds that will be performed in-house at Southern Oklahoma Women's Health, and closely monitor the health of the mother and baby.

Your obstetrician or nurse practitioner will also deliver your baby and may decide a cesarean section is necessary if the health of the mother or baby is in jeopardy. If your doctor deems your pregnancy high-risk, you may be seen by your obstetrics medical team more frequently so the doctors and nurse practitioners can more closely monitor your health.
