Half of conception issues are due to, at least partially, from the male partner. We always conduct a semen analysis because infertility can be due to a low sperm count.

For women, we will check the function and health of the reproductive system including the uterus, fallopian tubes, ovaries, ovulation, as well as a hormone analysis.

Usual female causes of infertility include hormonal imbalance, endometriosis and ovulation issues. Depending on the underlying cause, several treatment approaches are available.

·      Medication and hormone treatment: prescription therapy, both orally and injections, can stimulate ovulation by helping the egg grow in the ovary. Also, certain medications can be given to level off specific hormones known to prevent pregnancy. Another possible hormone can be administered to stimulate to release of the egg after full development.

·      Assisted reproductive technology  (in vitro fertilization) Eggs are fertilized outside of the uterus and inserted after fertilization

·      Surgical treatment: some of our patients have been told, or are under the assumption, due to medical issues such as endometriosis, polyps or fibroids they are unlikely or unable to conceive. But, surgical removal can double the chance of pregnancy.

Factors involved in infertility include age, cause of the pregnancy, history or pregnancies and length of infertility. If you are suffering from infertility make an appointment with one of our doctors, we can help.
