PRP Hair Restoration
Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP)
Men and women may start to experience thinning hair at any age. As our hormones change, our hair texture and thickness may change as well. Platelet-rich Plasma (PRP) is a fairly new, exciting, non-surgical option for natural hair restoration. PRP Hair Restoration requires creating a controlled injury using microneedling and then injecting PRP into the scalp to stimulate follicle growth. How does it work?
- Your blood is drawn and placed in a centrifuge by our medical staff. The centrifuge separates the platelet-rich plasma from the red and white blood cells.
- A numbing agent is placed on the scalp.
- Microneedling may be performed on the scalp. Microneedling therapy is a minimally invasive procedure that involves the use of a device that contains fine needles. The needles are used to puncture the skin to create a controlled skin injury. Each puncture creates a channel that triggers the body to fill these microscopic wounds by producing new collagen and elastin. Microneedling is a common procedure used to rejuvenate the skin.
- The platelet-rich plasma is then injected directly into the scalp.
