PRP Hair Restoration

Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP)
Hair Restoration

Men and women may start to experience thinning hair at any age. As our hormones change, our hair texture and thickness may change as well. Platelet-rich Plasma (PRP) is a fairly new, exciting, non-surgical option for natural hair restoration. PRP Hair Restoration requires creating a controlled injury using microneedling and then injecting PRP into the scalp to stimulate follicle growth.

How does it work?
  • Your blood is drawn and placed in a centrifuge by our medical staff. The centrifuge separates the platelet-rich plasma from the red and white blood cells.
  • A numbing agent is placed on the scalp.
  • Microneedling may be performed on the scalp. Microneedling therapy is a minimally invasive procedure that involves the use of a device that contains fine needles. The needles are used to puncture the skin to create a controlled skin injury. Each puncture creates a channel that triggers the body to fill these microscopic wounds by producing new collagen and elastin. Microneedling is a common procedure used to rejuvenate the skin.
  • The platelet-rich plasma is then injected directly into the scalp.

What results should I expect?
Good candidates for PRP hair restoration can expect to see a 30-40% increase in follicle diameter and a 30-40% increase in follicle count.

How many treatments does it require?
Patients should expect three treatments and then will be placed on a maintenance program.
